WOODWORKING!

I've been at this for almost 30 years. I got started when we were living in San Diego, and Virginia wanted to buy some fancy Danish Rosewood bar stools. Well, the price at over $300 apiece led me to make a promise: "I'll make some for you"

In the next month, we purchased a table saw, shaper and jointer. I got the great idea, that if I could make these bar stools really nice, I could sell them back to the furniture company that we did not buy the stools from in the first place. Well, I did. I built two prototypes, one of rosewood and one of teak. I sold the first order to this fancy Danish place in San Diego for $600. This led to the creation of "Danish West", and eventually to "High Country Woods", that is still in operation today.

I build lots of stuff. I have had contracts for massive hutches, restoring antiques, restoring and building from scratch pipe organ wind chests, and most often, audiophile quality sound systems. Lots of projects for our house, and construction of buildings outside, including a greenhouse, barn, decks, barbeques, little gates, chicken coops, dog houses, bird houses, etc.

Meantime here are some pix from my latest project, a pair of headboards and a night table for our guest bedroom. This project began as a simple: "build some headboards". It ended up as an indirect lighting headboard with a matching nighttable. The pix of the finished 2 headboards and nighttable are not in the set...coming soon.
