"Old White" Project is the retro-restoration of Virginia's Grandfather's truck, a 1962 Chevy shortbed pickup...What began as
a simple "get it running" has turned into a massive project. The chief architecht, Brent Rule is an experienced builder of custom trucks. "Old White" will be the fifth of his creations. The body is at the house by the greenhouse. The original frame has taken on a new front end from a Plymouth Volare, a "nine-inch" Ford rear end and a 300+ horsepower Chevy 350 with Edelbrock maniford/carb, "Performer" cam, big valves, 10.5:1 compression forged pistons, headers and all kinds of goodies in an out; so the (new frame) is going in for sandblasting and will be back this week for paint (my work). The tires in the picture are temporary... the final will be 305 x 17 x 45 that translates into "big tires".
Then comes the cab, to be resored and painted; the bed will be new oak finished in spar varnish and the trim will be all stainless
steel. Eventually, it will be Virginia's driving machine.
More updates later.
