Continuing on...
The cab was sand and plastic bead blasted at "Master Blasters", Virg and I loaded it on
the trailer and took it to "Tom's Restorations" in Caldwell. Virginia found this guy in the phone book after we had just about given up. It turns out that most body shops hate this kind of work
and use it as filler when things are slow. That means that we would never have any idea when it would be finished. Tom Kiser (pronounced Kaiser), has been in the restoration business for most of his life, and has done well over 100 cars, one of which was for the Smithsonian Institute Museum. Tom is a real enthusiast, and does only one car at a time. So now we have another person to help us with Old White.
So, while Tom is working on the cab, Brent and I spent the day redoing the engine mounting. We moved it forward and up, so it fit better in the frame and does not interfere with the firewall. It is now in its permanent location. We
finished up with the rear end gears. Next week we will do the brakes, and if I can get a fuel tank in time, that will go in as well.
In about 2 weeks
or so, Tom will be finished with the cab and we will mate it with the frame in his shop. OBOY!
More updates later.
