Christmas/Holiday break for some, but not for Tuku. OW came home again for preparation to go to CJ's Auto Body in Eagle. Details of this last 2 weeks...
- Modified the rear bumper brackets and mounted the bumper (a 1963 bumper from Kelly, but since the frame width changed from '62 to '63, had to make a modification to mount it)
- Installed the turn signal lights and rear tail lights
- Increased the spacing on the front wheels for more clearance on the A-arms
- Installed heat shields to protect wiring and brake lines from the exhaust
- Final wiring and control of the cooling fan. Installed a cutoff switch and warning light on the dash
- Wired the windshield wipers to work off of the turn signal control lever
- Modified windshield wiper arms and bosses to accept up-to-date windshield wipers
- Installed door bumpers
- Installed dash lights: turn signals and high beam indicator
- Wired dome light to work off of the headlight switch
- Installed a new/matched set of rear shocks
- Installed new rear wheel cylinders to repair the leaky ones
- Installed tailgate latches made from seat belt buckles (see below, Kelly's idea)
- Did preliminary carburetor adjustment and engine timing
- Broke in/ran in the camshaft
Tomorrow night, Brent and I will final tune the carburetor and timing, fix the power steering leak, bleed the brakes, preliminary align the front wheels, final wire and charge the
air conditioner (too ambitious, I think).
So, this weekend, or maybe on Monday, I DRIVE OW to Eagle to CJ's! What a thrill!
