A 1962 Chevy short bed (white) was purchased new by Henry Porter (Pope) Wilson in Las Vegas. OW was used until 1975 to pull a camping trailer. In 1980, OW was given to
Pope's granddaughter, Virginia for use as a camping and haul-to-the-dump truck. OW came to Idaho in 1983 where she was used as a haul-to-dump and a climbing toy for goats (goat trampoline). Restoration
was started in June, 1998 by Rick Smith and Brent Rule at Eagle Chevron.
As restoration progressed, Brent thought that a street rod was just the ticket. I didn't know what that meant, but it sounded good. Virginia reluctanly agreed. OW was
stripped totally. Only the frame and rusted, banged up body parts were saved. New engine, tranny, brakes, bed wood, interior, heating/AC, stereo, etc.
Body work was done by Tom's Restorations in Caldwell. Tom spent 3 1/2 months, 6 days a week, full time in salvaging the body. Body parts from other vintage trucks were
substitued and welded in where the OW metal had turned to crumbling rust. With a coat of primer, OW came home to Eagle, where the final work on getting her running was done by Brent and Larry.
When OW was running, she was taken to C J Auto Body in Eagle. Jeff Holly and Carter Little spent the next month or so prepping the body for the 3-stage Cadillac Pearl
White paint. By February she was finished.
OW took her place in the Boise Roadster Show, where she took First Place in Class and Outstanding Truck of the show.
